Probably the most famous aquarium fish in the world, goldfish are instantly recognisable and synonymous as many people’s first pet.
But they are not just the domain of the beginner fishkeeper, for even experienced goldfish keepers take their breeding very seriously.
Goldfish originated in China and have been around in their colourful, domesticated form for a long time. Yet it takes a lot of work by breeders to maintain that bright red colour or long tail.
